Here we go!

Six hundred trees have been purchased and should be delivered in April. I would like to give a shout out to our vendor Chief River Nursery out of Grafton, WI. Dean and Sheila’s website was a huge help for this novice farmer! I was able to pick the right trees for the zone we are in. More about that later.

It is February, so no planting can happen yet. I am doing prep work to get ready for the planting season. “The planting season” 😂. That sounds so funny coming out of my mouth. I have a degree in accounting. I have no business thinking I can grow trees. My favorite color is green but growing Christmas trees?? Example: last week I was trying to explain to my sister where we were going to start the first acre of trees. I said, “…you know, across the street from Aunt Dolly’s…”. She replied, “Wait, stop. Oh my gosh. No. There are no “streets” in the country. If you are referring to the “lane”, I am not sure we can even describe that as a lane.” Lesson learned.

My family and some friends think I am crazy for doing this, but I know they are all supporting our business. I am lucky to have all the support around me. I have had editing help, website help, consulting on what to buy and when, and just a lot of sounding-board time. I have even had offers to help plant the seedlings! Good thing because I have calculated it will take me four full days to plant these little trees on my own 😮.

Thank you all. My hope is this will create a legacy that will live way beyond our generation.

Go Chiefs!

“No man is an island entire of itself; every man

is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;

if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe

is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as

well as any manner of thy friends or of thine

own were; any man's death diminishes me,

because I am involved in mankind.

And therefore never send to know for whom

the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
